“Of course we had heard of MAGNET before we heard about the County Loan program,” says Moore. “MAGNET helped us obtain our funding. But we recognized we also needed engineering help. So it made sense to take advantage of MAGNET's Product Design and Development team.”

The entire PDD team at MAGNET helped Nash and Moore brainstorm about the FireGround Compass’ design and engineering parameters. Working with Pro-E CAD software, Mike Keller, Senior Product Engineer, prepared preliminary concept drawings and final assembly drawings.

“Mike’s been terrific,” says Moore. “He’s provided us a lot of guidance from a technical standpoint. Being a small start-up, we don’ have that competency at Halcyon yet.”

The PDD team also helped Halcyon research and select vendors for sourcing and assembly of 140 working beta-unit prototypes.
