Accessmount LLC, based in Twinsburg, Ohio, develops new products based on the company’s proprietary Removable Fixture Mounting System invented by company president and founder, Nelson Pitlor.

The company’s pole-mounted system was originally designed to make it easy for an operator on the ground to remove overhead surface-mounted light fixtures for maintenance. Because the system doesn’t require a ladder, it system significantly reduces maintenance time and increases worker safety.

“From the beginning, we realized that the recessed fixture is one of the staples of the architectural world,” says Pitlor. “We knew that, until we came out with a recessed-can fixture, it was going to be very hard for us to get much excitement in the market.”

Pitlor originally planned to create a system that would work for both commercial and residential buildings. However, he realized his two-person company did not have the marketing, design and engineering expertise to accomplish this goal.
