Miniaturizing the iWave Cube's microwave components took careful planning and design.
In late 2005, Davis heard about MAGNET's product development services from a friend and decided to just make a cold call and see where it might take him.
"I have to admit, the first person I talked to was kind of skeptical about my idea for a personal microwave appliance," Davis recalls. "But she put me in touch with the Product Design & Development consulting engineers for a 'think tank' meeting. Aaron Marshall, a senior product development engineer, became the project point person. ."
"The biggest challenge was the size," says Marshall. "So we bought two of the smallest microwaves we could find and disassembled them part-by-part, documenting all the components as we went. Then we picked the smallest components and laid them out to fit the size Phil wanted."
"Aaron became the champion for the project," says Davis. "And his enthusiasm became infectious."
